Bioplasmar CEO Honored with EU Business News Award for Innovation in Biodegradable Bio-Based Composites
May 25, 2025 — Bioplasmar, a pioneering startup in sustainable materials, is proud to announce that its CEO, Zamir Eldar, has been named Biodegradable Technology CEO of the Year 2025 by EU Business News. The award recognizes Eldar’s visionary leadership and the company’s groundbreaking work in the development of biodegradable, bio-based composite materials.
The award comes as both an unexpected honor and a powerful validation of Bioplasmar’s commitment to driving environmentally responsible innovation in a traditionally conservative industry. Despite a sector heavily influenced by pricing pressures and resistance to change, Bioplasmar has made significant strides in developing sustainable alternatives to conventional plastics.
“Plastic pollution is no longer just an environmental concern—it has become a serious public health issue,” said Zamir Eldar, CEO of Bioplasmar. “Scientific research continues to reveal the devastating impacts of plastic waste, not only on marine ecosystems but also on human health. Yet, progress is hindered by sluggish legislation, lack of enforcement, and limited willingness within the industry to embrace sustainable solutions.”
Operating with limited resources, Bioplasmar has tackled these systemic challenges through a science-led, mission-driven approach. This recognition highlights the company’s impact to date and fuels its determination to continue challenging the status quo in the materials industry.

A European “Green Deal” against Global Warming
Europe is introducing a green pact with the goal of becoming the first carbon-neutral nation by 2050.
“This pact will reduce emissions while creating jobs and improving our quality of life. It is the green thread that will run through all our policies – from transportation to taxation, from food to agriculture, from industry to infrastructure.
We want to invest in clean energy and expand the emissions trading system, but also strengthen the circular economy and preserve Europe’s biodiversity,” confirms Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.
